Youth Ministry

Ebenezer's Youth Ministry is comprised of many different organizations and comprises different aspects religous training for today's youth. Rev. Patricia Turner Brown is responsible for the Youth Ministry

  • Sunday School ( every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.)  provides bible instruction and discussion of Christian principles.
  • Youth Church (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th Sundays) provides organized worship services where students learn the aspects of our worship services and their meaning.                                                                                                                             
  • Youth (Joy) Sunday (4th Sunday) provides opportunity for youth leadership of the morning worship services to promote growth and ownership of church worship
  • Youth Day (Second Sunday in June) provides experiences in program planning and fundraising for youth, and recognition of outstanding achievements in the academic, social, cultural, and spiritual aspects of a young person's life.
  • The Young People's Division (YPD) provides on going encouragement of spiritual growth in the spirit of Christian Missions, and promotes camaradire among Christian youth from various churches

 

Erin Allen is a YPDer

  • The Youth Lay provides regular training in the role of lay persons of our denomination and the encouragement of leadership qualities among the youth lay membership.
  • The Youth Usher Board provides exposure to the role of the doorkeepers of the House of God and the function they play in welcoming and greetings those you enter in for worship
  • The Youth Choir provides opportunity for youth to grow in the musical expression of Christian praise and worship.  
  • The Liturgical Dance Ministry provides for the experience of praise through the expressions of dance.

  • The Alcolytes provide opportunity for particpation in the worship service in assisting the ministerial staff.  
  • The Recreation Department provides outlets for sporting activities, promoting Christian development and sportsman-like conduct.

BIBLE BOWL RULES AND TERMS

For the benefit of those who will be participating or working with the BIBLE BOWL program, it is necessary to define certain terms that will be used throughout quizzing competition. There are six (6)

 basic terms that everyone should be familiar with for clarity and understanding.

Division I:  A TEAM consists of up to four (4) persons who are presently in grade one (1) through grade ,~ six (6).

Division II: A TEAM consists of up to four (4) persons who are presently in grade seven (7) through twelve (12) from the same church.

The members of the team should be members of the local church of which they represent. The team

can be all young men or young women or a mixture in any number. No church is too small to have a team!! A church may also enter more than one team if it wishes.

SUPPORT GROUP

COACH: The person who will assist the team in learning the required biblical information. He/she should be a member of the church.

QUIZMASTER: The person or persons who conduct the quiz program during competition.

JUDGES: The persons responsible for decisions on "asked questions", "answers" and "regulations" requested by the Quizmaster.

SCOREKEEPER: The person responsible for keeping the score of teams during competition.

TIMEKEEPER: The person responsible for keeping the score of teams during competition.

CONTEST

Each contest is five (5) minutes. A contestant has five (5) seconds to begin answering the question asked by the quizmaster. A contestant may buzz in to answer the question at any time but if the wrong answer is given, the other team will be given an opportunity to answer the same question; (exception: True or False questions).

POINTS AWARDS

True or False Questions - the verse must be correct in every word to be true, otherwise it is false: awarded three (3) points. If answered incorrectly three (3) points will be deducted.

Fill-in the Blanks, Completion Questions - the answer must contain the essence of the verse, not /

necessarily the exact words: awarded five (5) points. A contestant may buzz in at any time but if answered incorrectly the other team will be given an opportunity to answer the same question. There is no penalty for an incorrect answer.

Quotation Questions - the verse must be answered exactly as it is written in the Bible to be correct: awarded ten (10) points. There is no penalty for an incorrect answer. But if answered incorrectly the other team will be given an opportunity to answer the same question.

4TH DISTRICT LEVEL CONTEST

I The winning team from Division I and the winning team from Division II from each presiding Elder's  District will qualify to participate for the championship of the 4th Episcopal District at the Christian Education Congress.

You cannot lose when you study the Word of God. Regardless of placement, each team, members, coaches, sponsors are still winners!
