
The Rev. Gwen Davis is a native of Detroit, Michigan where she was educated in the Detroit Public Schools. She attended Wayne State University and majored in English and Communications. She is employed by the Michigan First Credit Union and works in the Marketing and Community Relations department.
Rev. Gwen accepted the call to Christian Ministry in August of 2003 and continues her studies in the A.M.E. Church Ministerial Institute administered by the Board of Examiners. Rev. Gwen is also currently enrolled in Northwestern Theological Seminary to further her studies. She was ordained as a Local Deacon in August 2007 in the Michigan Annual Conference by Bishop Phillip R. Cousin.
Rev. Gwen is a staff minister here at Ebenezer AME Church and serves as The Young Adult Minister, where she labors to spread God’s message to the Young Adults from 18 to 40. She is a regular teacher of the Women’s Sunday School class and the Every Member Call Bible study. Her primary responsibilities include coordinating church weddings, providing outreach to young adult’s in college, and coordinating a Young Adult Sunday every 3rd Sunday at Ebenezer.
Rev. Gwen has been an active member of the Black History Committee, the Ladies Usher Board, and has been a coordinator of the Annual Red, Black, and Green Tea. Rev. Gwen has a passion for the mentoring of young women and has plans to start a Women’s Prayer Circle called S.O.U.L. (Sisters Offering Understanding and Love), and a modeling program for young women called Models for Christ.
She has been involved in the community as founder of the LaShaye Modeling Company- a community service organization, a member of the Northwest Detroit Optimist Club, and a judge for the DECA competition.
Her favorite bible verses are Romans 8:28 - “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”; and Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Her motto is “Life is a journey, but the Love of God makes the trip worthwhile.”
